Ursula Steadman, MD

Dr. Ursula Steadman is a board certified Ob/Gyn generalist with special interest in preventative health, helping women through natural life transitions, pre-pregnancy counseling, pregnancy care, and the menopause transition. She has been recognized as a "Best Doc" for 2009-10 by Hartford Magazine.

She graduated from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1995—one of the first female-only medical schools—and did her Ob/Gyn residency at Hartford Hospital. After 2 years of private practice in Torrington, CT, Dr. Steadman joined the University of Connecticut Ob/Gyn group. She attends to both high and low risk pregnancies. She has served on a number of hospital committees (Infectious Disease, Lactation, Pharmacy) and continues to be actively engaged in precepting medical students and Ob/Gyn residents.

Dr. Steadman approaches patient care from a holistic perspective. By looking at the whole woman she can help discover if any gynecologic specific problems may be affecting her daily life and, additionally, how non- gynecologic issues may affect her reproductive and long-term health. Whenever possible, she favors prevention over procedures in order to help improve her patients' overall quality of life. She encourages open communication with her patients, offering them a confidential and respectful environment in which they can share their treatment preferences.

As a mother and wife, Ursula promotes her own health and that of her family by striving to maintain a balanced lifestyle. Her outside interests include gardening, music, and personal fitness.
